This baby male was first spotted on the night August 6th, 2013 at the Garden Eel Cove dive site during the manta ray night dive. He was exhibiting strange and awkward movements and might have impaired vision as he didn't react to lights or objects surrounding him.

As a very young manta, measuring only 4 feet across, he felt comfortable coming close to divers though he did spend most of the time on the outskirts of the dive site.

He is named after Michael 'Lobes' Strochein. Boat captain and dive professional who has played key roles in the development of the 'Manta Tour Operator Standards' and the future development of the manta ray experience in Kona.
