Eli is a young male manta first seen in December 2010 at Keauhou Bay during a night dive. While he didn't approach the circle of lights with the divers, snorkelers and other manta rays, he did allow us to approach him over the reef. He swam in a sort of erratic manner turning and twitching, kinda of like a dance. He was seen again a number of times in that month and was measured by manta researcher, Dr. Mark Dekos with a 2.31 meter wing span. He's named in honor of Manta Pacific Board member and manta researcher, Dr. Eli Michael.
