Wing RayWing Ray is a young female first photographed by James L. Wing on 4 April 2005. She is about 4 ft. across and is often found feeding in the lighted, shallow water area in front of the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa (formerly the Kona Surf Resort). Not yet accustomed to the presence of divers and snorkelers, she is easily startled by the touch of bubbles and the movement of swimmers. From the surface, she appears more grey in shading than most of the other mantas that have been documented.
