Lehua ray is a female manta ray that was first sighted July 8, 2002 at the Ho’ona Bay/Garden Eels site. She was first identified in the summer of 2002 along with four other new manta identifications when manta sightings on the Kona Manta Ray Night Dive were high. Lehua is the blossom on the ohia tree and the flower for the Big Island of Hawaii.
