Yumi Ray was first sighted by Roy Ott of Ocean Spirit Diving Services in 2000. He promptly named her after his wife, Yumi. Yumi ray first visited divers at Ho’ona Bay/Garden Eels on the nights of July 23 to 27, 2000 along with 17 other mantas. She was one of four newly sighted mantas that week. She’s visited again in October 2001. Yumi ray is a large female approximately 10’ across and will approach divers at night.
