Nova Ray was found at 8:30am Dec 31st 2017 just north of Puako boat ramp by 69s surf break in 15ft of water feeding on the surface in a current line full of plankton. Three of us got in the water and snorkeled with her for about 10 minutes. She was timid for most of the time but became more curious just before she decided to swim away. Chad filmed her on a free dive with James Sparks' GoPro. If it wasn’t for his fully charged GoPro, this beautiful manta would still be nameless. Big mahalos to Liquid Hawaii and Mr. Sparks for the support to make it all happen.
