Ava Ray was first seen by David Marchand on October 2nd 2014 at 6.0.5 between Vito's and Hoover's dive sites while he was diving holo holo with Kona Diving Company. She was about 8 feet across and was cruising over the reef at about 30ft depth. She let me approach her and I was able to take a couple of pictures. I didn't notice any scar or cut. She is a beautiful manta ray. I chose to name her Ava in honor of John and Jessie Tarson's daughter who gave me a warm welcome when I moved to the Big Island almost 5 years ago and then I realized what "Aloha" meant in hawaiian people's heart.
