Wyland is a large female 8’-9’ across when first identified at the Kona Surf site on June 9, 1997. She briefly joined Lefty, Taz, and W as they fed at the scuba divers’ lights. She is frequently sited at the Kona Surf site. With a chest marking somewhat resembling a W, she is named after the marine artist Wyland who enjoys diving with Keller at the manta ray site. Wyland the manta also has an identifying mark-- her left wing where the leading edge is cut (see above).
